Weird...

Things have been interesting lately... I've lost weight. But I don't really know how... Before I left for my mom's house I weighed 196.6, I tried to exercise a little while I was there but wasn't too successful. I "walked" 12 miles total while I was gone, well I only walked 3.5 of the 12 total the rest was "walked" on my parents stationary bike, but I counted it towards my total anyway. I did eat a little fast food while there and also ate quite a bit of ice cream, so I don't really know how it's possible that I lost 3 pounds while I was gone. I guess I had gained a bit before I left, but still. Now, since I've been home, just 5 days, I've lost another pound and a half. How? I've tried to do a couple extra things in my life to help, but can those "little" things really be helping?

My "little" things/changes are:
*No excess sugar - I'm not saying NO sugar, because that just makes me want to eat it more, so I just use moderation when choosing what to eat. I try to choose better sugars instead of candy and fruit snacks.
*Eat more greens - which I'm not good at, but I'm trying.
*When I feel munchy I eat fruit, or yogurt, a granola bar instead of sugar or stuff I shouldn't eat.
*Still drinking as much water as I can - at least the daily recommendation of 8 cups (64 oz. which is a half gallon)
*Still no chocolate - Next week makes 3 months off.
*Eating less - but still getting enough calories for nursing. This one is hard for me, because I LOVE eating. Food. Tastes. Gooood. But I'm trying.
*No fast food - unless absolutely necessary. And usually that's avoidable.
*Lastly, allow myself to splurge every once in a while - this makes me feel like I'm not truly dieting, and that I can still enjoy the things I like. Although, if I can splurge but still try to be healthy then I won't feel too bad about doing it.

So really, I'm not exercising more, I'm not really doing that much, but could it be helping me lose weight? Really? I mean, I haven't even walked this week!

First thing to consider, since I am such a weight loss diva and guru - you put on some muscle when you did so much walking, I would bet that your exercise/muscle-building situation has evened out, so now the effort you put in to walking and beneficial eating habits is showing results. I am green with envy or purple with a total lack of any desire to exercise. Dish up some ice cream!

awesome! it's funny how our bodies lose and gain at seemingly odd times. you inspire me! 3 months w/o chocolate? wow! I had chocolate chips in my oatmeal this morning...

Our bodies do fascinating that we just don't know why sometimes. In my anatomy class I just took, my teacher said, "If we are trying to loose weight, one important thing to remember is to drink LOTS of water". Maybe since you are still trying to drink more water, that is helping you to loose weight. And, next week you may hit a slump and not loose anything, and you may be doing all the "right" things. It is hard to predict what your body is going to do. However, that is just AWESOME that you are so committed and so diligent in keeping to your goals! You're stronger than I am! :) Keep it up!
