Sleeping & Nerves

I went to the doctor yesterday, and it was pretty uneventful. I actually like the appointments where they are just short check ups, but I always like when the doctor asks if I have any questions. The doctor failed at that yesterday. I practically had to guard the door so she wouldn't run. She said everything with the baby was good. She informed me that next check-up will be my diabetes screening, so yea! for getting poked with needles. I will also have to have my Rhogam shot that week as well. I used to hate needles, but after having a baby, it's nothing any more. So, yeah, a pretty boring doctors appointment! But the good news is that I gained weight, which isn't usually good news, but I'm back to the weight I was at my first appointment, so does that mean I haven't gained any weight for this pregnancy??

In other news, I'm sleeping awful. And I know I've been saying this for a while now, but it's really bad the last 4 nights. At first I thought it was my TMJ, but the more sleepless nights I've had, the more I know it's not that. Here's the thing, my jaw, my face and my head hurts, even sometimes my teeth. And most of those symptoms can be linked with TMJ, but TMJ usually just hurts all the time, not selectively. Since I've lived with TMJ for about 6 years now, I also know how to get rid of the TMJ pain, but everything that usually works to make the pain stop, does nothing! This pain comes basically when I'm laying down and only on one side of my head. It sometimes happens when I sit, usually in a comfy chair. I've averaged about 4 hours of sleep a night for the last 4 nights... I'm SO tired! So last night, before bed, I made an observation that I think I know the problem. I think it's a pinched nerve, or at least a nerve that gets pinched when my back is put in a certain position. And I tried to find some different positions to sleep in to try to help with the pain, but haven't had much, well really any, luck. I also noticed last night that I had shooting pain in my leg on the same side as the pain in my head. Has anyone had anything like this happen to them? How do you get a pinched nerve, un-pinched?

The sleeping with this pregnancy has always been different. With my first, I was completely content to sleep on my side, hugging a body pillow that was underneath my tummy and between my legs. And I slept great up until delivery, aside from the nightly potty break of course. Not this time. My body tells me it's most comfortable to sleep on my back, but that's a no-no while pregnant. So I asked the doctor about that yesterday, and she said I was okay to sleep on my back as long as I had a pillow underneath one side of me. Totally not comfortable. Any suggestions on sleeping? ...Yea, I know, but having the baby right now, isn't an option....

Lazy boy? I don't know. The other thought I had, is to get a massage. I'm sorry you aren't sleeping. Thanks for the reminder that I never want to get pregnant again! :) Love you. Ge some rest... if possible...

A back doctor could get rid of that pinched nerve in a jiff. Maybe the reason you can't sleep in very well has something to do with the way the baby is sitting, and if that's the case, the back doctor can help with that to. They can shift the baby. I went to one several times during my last pregnancy and it helped.

Can you tell that I'm using the words "back doctor" instead of "chiropractor" because I can't spell chiropra;asdlk?

Also, next time you're up here, Sandy McMaster gives pregnancy massages for $35. It's a friggin' steal.
