Food Needs

I don't remember having any weird cravings when I started this wild ride I'm on. I totally did with my first pregnancy - well maybe calling them weird cravings is wrong, they were more like "things I just had to have that I didn't normally eat before I was pregnant". And most of those things were so, so fattening - Taco Bell, hot sauce, hot dogs, subs with extra mayo... thinking of those things just made my stomach turn... But with this pregnancy I've mostly just had a food aversion. I eat, but not because it sounds good, or it tastes good, or that I'm really craving it, I just eat to survive. At least that's how it's been until now. Lately I've had some "cravings". I can't get enough of chewing ice, but only good ice. If there was a place in town that sold crushed ice I would be going there daily, maybe even twice daily. But there's not...that I know of... I'm not normally an ice chewer, but I just can't stop. The other weird thing I've eaten a ton of is strawberries - without sugar. I'm really not normally a huge berry fan in general, and I really only like strawberries if they are covered in sugar, but lately I eat them by the container just plain. Weird. Although, I have "spiced" them up a little and eaten them with whipped cream, and that's just plain yummy! I'm just amazed at these weird food "needs" that I can't seem to live without. Oh yeah, and I ate, by myself, a whole gallon of mint moose tracks ice cream in 2 days this last week... no wonder I gained 4 pounds at my last appointment...

Speaking of weight, I didn't mention my weight gain from my appointment on Thursday. Yeah, I gained 4 pounds. *sigh* I was doing so well. But in my defense, I did have a later appointment this week, so I didn't weigh in until after lunch when usually I have the appointments before lunch, and I was on a big water kick that day. So lunch + lots of water = extra weight, or at least I'm claiming it is (and of course that gallon of ice cream made no difference on my weight gain...). ☺ I seem to be extremely thirsty lately, so I'm constantly drinking water - I average about a gallon a day. So I guess we'll see what next week brings in weight gain, since it's an after lunch appointment it will be an equal comparison. ☺
